Safeguarding Adults bite-size workshops 2024-25

Bite size learning events

You are invited to short online webinars/workshops that are free to attend and open to all sectors across Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham. Each workshop has a presentation on a specific theme, followed by discussion. Registration is required.

West of Berkshire SAB In response to learning from the Tina SAR, the West of Berkshire SAB are delivering a scenario based webinar to support those working in considering executive functioning when assessing an individual’s Mental Capacity. With a focus on self-neglect and/or alcohol use. Register Here

The annual joint children and adults conference is organised by the LSCBs and the Safeguarding Adults Board in the West of Berkshire.

2017  Safeguarding and Mental Health

This year the theme was mental health and the programme included keynote presentations from Dr Gohula-Thevan from Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust exploring mental health versus mental illness, and a powerful presentation of his personal experience from Thomas Jordan, co-founder of SANE, the Oxford Mental Health Support Network. Becky Herron gave an overview of local support services and referral routes. Andrea King gave an overview of the Emotional Health Academy. Delegates were also able to attend a range of workshops addressing safeguarding in relation to neurological conditions; self-neglect and hoarding; self-harm including a self-harm prevention plan; bullying; and attachment and trauma.
